๐๏ธ Deep Dive Drive โ Episode 8: Player Feedback
In this episode of Deep Dive Drive, recorded on my morning commute, I break down a simple but effective model for giving players feedback โ without overwhelming them or leaving them unsure of where they stand.
Feedback is one of the most powerful tools a coach has, but only if itโs delivered at the right time, in the right way.
In this episode, I share the short-, medium-, and long-term feedback model that I use with players:
- Short-term feedback โ clear, specific information given within training sessions or games
- Medium-term feedback โ more detailed conversations involving the player and parent, usually on a monthly basis
- Long-term feedback โ structured, termly feedback after around 12 weeks, delivered via voice note or video
I also explain how long-term feedback should focus on the four key areas of player development:
- Technical
- Tactical
- Psychological / Social
- Physical
This episode is about creating clarity, consistency, and trust โ helping players understand where they are, what theyโre doing well, and what they need to work on next.
If youโre a coach looking to improve communication, a parent wanting better understanding, or a player who values honest development-focused feedback, this episode offers a practical framework you can apply immediately.
Clear messages. Better understanding. One drive at a time.
