🎙️ Deep Dive Drive – Episode 12: What You Can Control
In this episode of Deep Dive Drive, recorded on my morning commute, I focus on one of the most important mindset shifts you can make — understanding what you can control, and letting go of what you can’t.
So much frustration, stress, and burnout comes from putting energy into things outside of our control. This episode is about narrowing your focus and taking responsibility for the things that actually move you forward.
I introduce the Three A’s framework:
- Awareness – being honest about what is and isn’t in your control
- Action – putting your energy into the things you can influence
- Acceptance – letting go of what you can’t change and moving forward
I talk about how this applies to:
- Coaching and leadership
- Players, parents, and team environments
- Work, pressure, and day-to-day challenges
- Managing emotions when things don’t go to plan
This episode isn’t about ignoring problems — it’s about responding better to them.
When you focus on what you can control, you become calmer, clearer, and more effective. And once you accept what’s outside your control, you free up energy to perform where it matters most.
Simple mindset. Clear focus. Better outcomes.
One drive at a time.
